Wine Bottle

Wine bottle designed for SIX THREE ESTATE, the second winery in Fukui Prefecture. The concept of ‘terroir’ was adopted not only for the grapes but also for the packaging. The bottles are Echizen ware, a type of pottery produced in the town of Echizen and made in one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, close to the winery. We developed a ceramic wine bottle based on the Georgian 8,000-year-old ceramic wine fermentation, storage, and ageing method called Qvevri. By deliberately choosing a bottle shape that is not cylindric, the top is off-centred, and the front is easy to recognize without a label. The bottle is easy to hold and elegant when pouring wine into a glass.
